Rei Sushi 禮鮨

Walked pass the restaurant many times but wonder why never went in...Finally decide to give it a try.
Still quite full so decided to have a "light dinner". Had California handrolls(one each), a Salmon handroll, and a Sea eel handroll. The seaweed is very crispy and the ingredients are very fresh, that's why simply dig in and started eating, completely forgetting about taking a photo. Only remembered after a big bite on the California roll...Delicious sea eel, a lot more tender and delicate flavour than eel.

The mysterious "Japan Wagyu Beef" with teriyaki sauce. Where did it come from when there's still a ban on Japan beef? But anyway, the beef is very tender, juicy and full of flavor even without the teriyaki sauce.

A very delicious and enjoyable meal and the price is reasonable too. One more choice when in IFC next time.

Comfort Food

A bowl of delicious pasta is always welcomed when being upset, as carbohydrates is one of the best comfort food.
The set lunch menu at the moment is a very good deal. For $198 you'll have a buffet antipasto with vast selection and a dessert. For $10 dollars more you'll have a main course too!
Penne with tomato and eggplant. Penne being the all time favorite, either with cream or tomato sauce , it's yummy.

MOS Burger

Finally tried MOS Burger. The Mos Burger and Cheese Burger were sold out by then so had a Teriyaki Chicken Burger. It did taste better than M burger - the only problem is the chicken is with skin. Would be nice if there's more outlets so can have it more often with no need to queue up for a long time or eat at odd hours.

Would like to try the cheese burger sometime. Wonder when will the queue become shorter...

Great Feast

Had a great feat at Tin Heung Lau. Heard about it for very long time and finally made a visit. First, it accepts credit card now(I heard it use to take cash only), it's a lot smaller than I expected and it's true that a lot of the items on the menu are without a price. Actually a lot of the famous are not on the menu.

Ordered some of the famous dishes : Stir-fried shrimp with Longjing, Malantou (馬蘭頭)- the tender leaves of Boltonia indica(of the chrysanthemum family) with dried bean curd, and fried Medicago(草頭).

The noodles with crab meat and roe is a dish definitely can't be missed. It's so delicious that two big bowls are gone before taking photos. (Well, was too excited when the noodles arrived and forgot...)
Star of the meal - two giant hairy crabs. Nothing beats the meat and roe fresh from the crab.

Complimentary dessert - fermented glutinous rice with glutinous rice balls in osmanthus sweet soup. Nice balance of flavours, but would prefer it to be without banana...

And of course, true to the rumors, it's very pricy. But it's worth it for the quality of food and service you get.

African Violets

Always like African violets - so many different color and type and you never know the color before blooming.

People (穹六)

A very interesting place...first you'll have to figure out how to get in...

Vegetable and pork salad - vegetable sticks with pork spring rolls and tuna dipping.
Miso baked cod. Taiwan/Japanese style and very tasty.
Fried rice with salmon. Delicious and not oily.
Nice place for late night dinner and drink in Shanghai.

Whampoa Club

Found a very nice restaurant, food is delicious, environment is pleasant and best of all ~ they serve tasting menu per person.
Starters from the $388 set (Set B)~ Sweet lotus roots stuffed with glutinous rice, goose liver with red dates stuffed with glutinous rice paste, smoked fish. All are very yummy.
This is a full order of one of the starters from the $188 set (Set A)~ Cold beef with tendon and vinegar jelly. The other two are fried goose liver with sesame and octopus and egg white in vinegar.

The "Daily soup" and "Double boiled chicken soup with wanton"(separate order) are both full of flavour(without MSG). The shark fin soup with crab roe from Set A is also nice.

Ordered spare ribs in cocoa sauce, but it's not too special. There are 2 small main course (per set) and all are very delicious.

By the time the noodles arrived, there's no room left for them. The green tea noodles with crispy fish and chili (optional) is light but irresistible(Set B). The sweet and sour glass noodles tasted a bit like Vietnam dishes is refreshing and equally nice.
More to come. Steam shrimp dumpling and fried seafood spring roll. Set A got fried pork dumpling and pork spring roll.
Desserts are fried dumpling made of glutinous rice flour stuffed with custard and a cooked one served in soup. Set B - cooked dumpling with peanut powder and sweet fermented glutinous rice soup(酒釀丸子).

Crab Feast

The "MUST visit" restaurant during hairy crab season - 王寶和酒家. Not the one in the hotel but the original one on Fu Zhou Rd. First to arrive is the fried noodles(兩面黃) with crab roe.

Then it's the radish dumpling(蘿蔔絲酥餅). The crust is crispy and crumbles and melts in the mouth and the radish inside is soft and full of flavour.

Star of the meal - Hairy crabs. Needless to say, they are delicious!

Crab roe dumplings.

There are some other dishes but didn't have time to take photos as being fully occupied by the crabs... One important thing ~ if having crab roe dishes and hairy crab, remember to have all the crab roe dishes first because nothing taste as wonderful as the crab itself.

Serradura/Sawdust pudding

Made some "Sawdust pudding" upon request. Quick and easy dessert with only cream, condensed milk, biscuits and vanilla seeds. Fattening but comforting.

Cammino

After all the great feast lately, decided just to have a "light" dinner. Walked pass Cammino many times but never thought of going in.

Lobster Bisque

Cod with parma ham and Steak with goose liver.

A casual little restaurant. The service is good and food is fair. But would rather save two meals here and have one in Spoon...
